Hi, I’m Kurt, and this is my sidekick, Wilson.

I started the Arbor & Iron workshop as an adventure into the world of closed-loop manufacturing. I became aware of the unsustainable nature of a world where we’ve become used to inexpensive (and short-lived) furniture constructed overseas and opted to start making my own. I began milling lumber in 2018 and now almost exclusively use lumber that I have cut from local trees for furniture in my shop. In this way, my furniture is a celebration of local trees; giving them life beyond their time in the ground and allowing their beauty to be enjoyed for generations.
